MSU improves to 14-24 (4-11 B1G) while Washington falls to 30-13 (8-6). The 1-1 series wraps up with a 12:00 p.m. rubber match at Secchia Stadium on Sunday.
Senior Faith Guidry started in the circle tossing 1.2 innings with one earned run allowed before senior Madison Taylor came out of the bullpen in relief. Taylor went 2.1 innings striking out one and surrendering three earned runs before freshman Jacey Schuler (7-10) entered the game in the fifth. Schuler tossed 3.0 hitless, shutout innings of relief while striking out one to earn the victory.
Junior Britain Beshears and Allen went yard for the Spartans with Beshers slugging a two-run shot prior to Allen's of the three-run variety. Both homers gave MSU a lead.
Junior Sydney Doloszycki doubled, and junior Kaelin Cash, freshman Natalia Kenyatta and freshman Ava Coffinger reached on singles. Cash was on base three times on Saturday adding a pair of walks to her final tally. In total the Spartans drew seven walks.
A two-out first inning single lined back to the pitching circle by Kenyatta gave Michigan State an early 1-0 lead.

Consecutive Huskies singles in the top of the second tied the game at 1-1. Taylor came out of the bullpen and got out of a bases loaded jam to prevent additional damage.
Doloszycki led off the third inning with a double to right center before later coming in to score when Beshears slugged her eighth home run of the season and the 24th of her career over the left field fence. Her third inning homer moved Beshears into a tie for sixth in program history for career home runs alongside Dayna Feenstra (2004-07) and Cailin Mahoney (2005-08).

Washington used a two-run homer in the fourth and a solo shot in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead over the Spartans.
With two on and two out in the bottom of the fifth, Allen's name was called on to pinch hit. On the first pitch she saw Allen swatted the ball to the opposite field and over the fence in right for a three-run home run that provided MSU with a newfound 6-4 advantage.
