The Spartans (16-28) went up 4-0 in the first thanks in part to Beshears launching a two-run shot. The Broncos began their comeback in the third, scoring twice in each of the third and fourth innings and then went on top 5-4 with a fifth-inning score. Back-to-back homers for the visitors in the top of the sixth made it 8-4, seemingly giving the Broncos some breathing room.
