Grillo Homers in Setback at Notre Dame

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State dropped a 9-1 decision at Notre Dame on Wednesday, falling in its final non-conference game of the season. The Spartans, who defeated Western Michigan 9-8 on Tuesday, fall to 16-29, with six Big Ten games remaining on their schedule. Notre Dame is now 20-27 and resumes ACC play this weekend.
Sophia Grillo had a pair of base hits, including a solo homer to lead off the second inning. Natalia Kenyatta and Payton Conroy also had hits on the day.
For the Irish, Caroline O'Brien was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, while Lily Hagan was 1-for 2 with a homer and an RBI. Catcher Hayden Kyne also contributed two base hits, two RBI, and scored twice. Starter Brianne Weiss went four innings, striking out eight.
Michigan State welcomes Maryland to Secchia Stadium for a three-game series which begins on Friday.

- Starter Autumn Behlke got the start in the circle for MSU and went 1.3 innings. She allowed three earned runs and walked just one.
- Natalie Lower came on in relief in the second inning and went 2.1 innings, her longest outing of the season. She scattered four hits and walked one while surrendering two runs (both unearned)
