What you need to know about Spartan softballÂ
•  Michigan State travels to play a midweek tilt at Oakland.  Originally scheduled to take place at Secchia Stadium, the game had to be moved due to flooding at MSU's Old College Field complex. The Golden Grizzlies host Rochester Christian University on Tuesday afternoon before the teams meet on Wednesday.    Â
• Last weekend's three-game B1G series at Secchia vs. Illinois was abbreviated to a Friday doubleheader due to weather.  MSU won 7-0 in game one and fell 12-6 in game two.Â
•  The Spartans have smacked 50 doubles through 38 games, the most for an MSU squad since the 2022 team hit 60. Green and White batters have already posted eight triples this season, matching their total from 2025. MSU has also drawn 130 walks this season, (3.42 per game), which is eighth in the B1G.  MSU averaged just over three walks per game last year (136 walks in 45 games) and is on pace to surpass that total.
•  MSU has turned 17 double plays on the season, which ranks third in the Big Ten and 30th nationally (0.47/gm).  It is also the eighth-most DPs in a season in program history. Â
•  Leadoff hitter Zoie Bernard has played all 36 games in the outfield and has led MSU in most offensive categories throughout the season.  She owns or shares the team leads in batting average (.347), slugging (.579), on-base percentage (.436), hits (42), runs scored (23), doubles (12), triples (5), and stolen bases (7).  She ranks second in the B1G and seventh nationally in triples, and fourth in the league in doubles. Â
•  Sydney Doloszycki leads the squad with 21 RBI, is second on the team in batting average (.301), and base hits (28).  She smacked her third homer of the year among her three base hits against Illinois, and added a pair of RBI. Â
•  Britain Beshears went a team-best 4-for-5 at the plate in the Illinois DH, which included a homer, one RBI, one walk, and two runs scored.  Earlier in the week, she went 1-for-2 with two runs scored in Wednesday's game vs. UDM.  She owns the squad's longest active hitting streak (four games).
•  Hannah Hawley and Beshears each have 27 career home runs, which is good for fifth place all-time in program history.  Â
•  Sophie Holverstott has started each of the last six games and has played in 13 overall.  She delivered a team-best five RBI in the doubleheader against Illinois, when she had a double, a homer, and scored twice in six at-bats.  She has 11 RBI, two homers, a double and four base hits - all better than her freshman season totals. Â
•  Sophomore Natalia Kenyatta has started each of the last six games, the last five at second base.  In that span, she's had a pair of two-hit games: in the opener at Ohio State, and vs. Detroit Mercy (4/1).  She has started 15 games this season of her 25 played and is batting .216, with career highs in hits (8), walks (7), stolen bases (2) and runs (7).  Defensively, she has 12 putouts and 25 assists without an error.
Â
• Sophomore Jacey Schuler leads the Spartan staff in starts (16) and wins (5).  She has 21 total appearances, posting a 4.87 ERA in a team-high 64.2 innings.  Schuler's Friday effort against Illinois was a one-hit complete game, striking out three and walking just two.
 •  Autumn Behlke made a relief appearance in last Friday's nightcap against Illinois, in which she delivered 4.2 innings of work.  Overall on the year, she owns a team-best 4.75 ERA and a 3-2 record in the circle, throwing 45.2 innings.  Â
