MSU Track & Field Set to Host 2026 Auto-Owners Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State track & field will host the 2026 Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational on Friday, April 3. Friday's meet will be the only home event of the year for the Spartans.
The pole vault and long jump will be contested inside of historic Jenison Field House, while the hammer throw and javelin throw will be held outdoors across the street from Ralph Young Field at Munn Field. The remaining field events and all the running events will be held at Ralph Young Field on the outdoor track.
Action will start at 10:00 a.m. with the women's long jump and hammer throw, and the men's long jump. The meet will conclude following completion of the 4x400m relays, slated to begin at 5:20 p.m.
PREVIOUSLY FOR MSU
The Spartans had a successful weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina last weekend, securing six top ten finishes at the Raleigh Relays. Tess Roman finished fifth in the women's javelin throw. Lexy Wilson finished 10th in the women's 400m with a season-best time of 54.27, and Kate Stewart-Barnett notched a 10th-place finish in the women's 800m with a time of 2:07.15, making that the sixth-fastest time in MSU history.
On the men's side of things, Tim Cherry got the action started for the men finishing seventh in the men's 1500m with the third-fastest time in Spartan history, crossing at 3:40.75. In the men's pole vault invitational, Adam Blue finished fourth with a new personal best vault of 5.27m, making his vault the sixth best in MSU history. In the men's pole vault open, Landon Cosby finished in first place with a season-best vault of 4.97m.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a trio of events starting. In the women's hammer throw, MSU will send throwers Elle Adrian, Jessica Stieb, Rylan Finstrom and Margaret Jones out to throw. Also beginning at 10:00 a.m. is the men's shot put and the women's long jump, with Dylan Terryberry, and brothers Dillion and Colby Morlock set to throw in the men's shot put.
At 11:00 a.m., the men's pole vault and women's high jump will be underway with Blue, Cosby, and Sean Mullen set to vault in the men's pole vault and senior Korin Whitcomb set to compete in the women's high jump for the Green & White. The Morlocks, Xaiver Griffiths, and Dalton DeBeau will throw in the men's hammer throw, and Finstrom, Stieb, Jones, and Roman are set to throw in the women's shot put for MSU. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., the men's long jump is scheduled to begin with Carter Bissell and Andrew Harding set to jump for the Spartans.
On the track, the women and men's 4x100m relay will begin at 1:10 p.m., with MSU sending out one team for each relay.
The women's discus throw will begin an hour later at 1:30 p.m. Finstrom, Stieb, and sophomore Kate Stajos set to throw for the Green & White. Starting a half hour later at 2:00 p.m. is the men's high jump, with Brady Schultz scheduled to jump for MSU. Beginning at 2:30 p.m. is the men's 100m and the women's pole vault. In the women's pole vault, MSU will have seniors Natalie Blake and Sophia Mettes competing, while Bissell, Harding Cheetam, and Novak will compete for the men in the 100m. Immediately following the women's pole vault and men's 100m, the meet will quickly transition into the women's triple jump and the 400m at 2:45 p.m.
Scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. is the men's discus throw and the women's 1500m. DeBeau, Griffiths, Dillion and Colby Morlock and Dylan Terryberry will throw for MSU. Nine Spartans will be competing in the women's 1500m. Following the women's 1500m, the meet will transition into the men's 1500m, with nine male Spartans also set to run. An hour later at 4:35 p.m., the meet will move into the women's and men's 800m. Competing for MSU in the women's 800m, is Olivia Millen, Madison Osterberg and junior Sarah Forsyth, while Tim Cherry, Jasper Cane, Noah Sage and Alex Yon will compete for the Spartans in the men's 800m.
To conclude the Spartan Invitational, the meet will wrap up following completion of the 4x400m relays. MSU will send three teams out to compete for the men, and one team for the women.
ON DECK
Michigan State will have the weekend off next weekend following the Spartan Invitational. The team will return to competition on Thursday, April 16 when the Spartans travel back to North Carolina, this time to Winston-Salem for the 2026 Wake Forest Invitational.
