
No. 29 Ranked Michigan State Continues Success On The Road With Win At No. 47 Purdue Sunday

MSU adds another check to the road win column on the season.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Michigan State men's tennis defeated No. 47 Purdue in a hard-fought 5-2 victory on the road on Sunday.
Michigan State improves to 10-6 on the season and 5-1 in B1G play, while the Boilermakers fall to 9-6, 1-5 in conference competition.
In the doubles matchups, the Spartans stuck to their most familiar pairings but switched up their spots. Junior Ozan Baris and redshirt sophomore Aristotelis Thanos kept their long-term spot at No. 1. Sophomore Taym Alazmeh and freshman Danial Rakhmatullayev slid up to No. 2, while the Sheldon brothers of senior Max Sheldon and freshman Mitchell Sheldon- rounded out the Spartans double pairings at No. 3.
Moving the Spartans closer to the doubles point was Ma. Sheldon/Mi. Sheldon. The brother duo defeated Villanger/Premzl (PUR), 6-4.
Tying the score for the team was Rakhmatullayev/Alazmeh. The Spartan pairing fought hard against Simeunovic/Labrador (PUR), but ultimately fell 6-1.
The tiebreaker was left to Baris/Thanos and Krivokapic/Velasquez. Both teams played tough in a back-and-forth match, but Purdue pulled ahead and grabbed the doubles point.
Michigan State knew they needed to dig deep in their singles matches to pull off the win against the Boilermakers.
Grabbing his first win this weekend, junior David Saye tied up the score for the Spartans. Saye took on Mujtaba Ali-Khan from Purdue and beat him, 6-2, 6-2.
Putting the Spartans ahead was Forbes, going undefeated on the weekend. Forbes took on Stefan Simeunovic (PUR), defeating him 6-3 6-2, to put the team ahead 2-1.
Purdue grabbed another point to tie up the score as Aleksa Krivokapic (PUR) def. Baris, 6-3, 6-4.
Ma. Sheldon put on a show for the fans in attendance in a back-and-forth match against Henrik Villanger (PUR), defeating Villanger 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
Clinching the victory for the Spartans was freshman Vuk Radjenovic, who defeated Maj Premzl (PUR) 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to clinch the road win for the Spartans.
The remaining match between No. 22 Aristotelis Thanos (MSU) and JD Velasquez (PUR) would be played out.
Thanos came back to fight for his win against Velasquez from Purdue, 6-7, 7-5, 10-3.
