2020 (SENIOR): Recipient of the John Kobs Most Valuable Player and Kirk Gibson Offensive Player of the Year MSU team awards ... Played and started in all 15 games, one of only two Spartans to start in every game, along with Bryce Kelley and one of three players to play in all 15 contests, along with Kelley and Peter Ahn ... Led team and ranked second in the Big Ten and tied for 22nd in the NCAA with a .441 average ... Also ranked second in the Big Ten and 35th in the NCAA with a .528 on-base percentage and second on the team and 15th in the league with a .542 slugging percentage ... Led MSU, while ranking second in the B1G and tied for 35th in NCAA with 26 hits ... Shared team and Big Ten lead with eight stolen bases, ranking tied for 45th in NCAA ... Also ranked tied for second in conference and tied for 44th in country with 0.53 stolen bases/game ... Posted an extremely rare streak of reaching base in 10-straight at bats in a span from the game on Feb. 17, starting with a single and triple in his last two at bats in that game vs. Morehead State, then went 5-for-5 with a walk in series-opener vs. Merrimack on Feb. 21, then opened second game of series vs. Merrimack on Feb. 22 with a single and double, before the streak came to an end with a popup ... Had seven singles, a double, a triple and a walk in that 10-at bat streak.
2019 (JUNIOR): Saw limited action with 32 appearances, making 21 starts, while battling injuries ... Recorded a .235 average in 81 at bats, logging 19 hits, including two doubles and one triple, notching four RBI ... Drew 15 walks ... Added four stolen bases ... Had three multi-hit games highlighted by logging season-high three hits at Purdue (May 5), in same game that tied season-high two RBI, also knocking two ribbies vs. Michigan (March 29) ... Also had season-best four total bases in Purdue game, adding one of two doubles on season ... Posted other double at Iowa (May 12) ... Tallied two hits vs. NC State (Feb. 23) and at Nebraska (March 22) ... Knocked lone triple of season at Arizona (March 5) ... Had season-long five-game reached base streak (May 8-14), as well as three-game hit streak (May 11-14).
2018 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 24 games, making 13 starts, in limited action with an injury ... Posted one multi-hit outing, picking up first collegiate hit as part of 2-for-3 outing at Pepperdine (Feb. 23) ... Had a five-game reached base streak (March 3-24) ... Rapped lone triple of season that was game-winning RBI in eighth inning vs. Toledo (April 25), in lone plate appearance of the game, helping MSU complete comeback from down 4-0 for 5-4 win ... Also had RBI vs. Ohio State (May 17) ... Made season-high three putouts while playing second base in three different games.
BEFORE MSU: Played one season at Kellogg under head coach Eric Laskovy, leading the Bruins to a 34-17-2 record, winning their 10th Michigan Community College Athletic Association title with a 20-4 conference mark ... Was named a first-team NJCAA All-Region XII honoree, as well as All-MCCAA accolades ... Not only named to the MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team, but was also tabbed as the Freshman of the Year ... Also earned Region XII All-Tournament Team accolades ... Was named NJCAA DII Baseball National Player of the Week on April 5 for his performance during week 10 (March 27 - April 2), in which he hit .761 for the week, with three doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI ... For the season, hit .473, ranking fourth in NJCAA DII, while logging 67 RBI, ranking 12th in NJCAA DII, as well as ranking second in the country with a .590 on-base percentage and sixth in the nation with an .836 slugging percentage ... Also belted 11 HR, while adding four triples and 12 doubles, and also drew 37 walks and swiped 20 stolen bases.
HIGH SCHOOL: At Grandville HS under head coach Ricky Clark, was a three-year letterwinner and was a two-time team captain ... Was a two-time all-state honoree, earning first-team accolades and being named to the All-State Dream Team as a senior, after earning second-team honors as a junior ... Was also a two-time all-region, all-district and all-conference selection ... Hit .437 as a senior, hitting a school-record seven triples, adding two home runs and eight doubles, finishing with 26 RBI.
PERSONAL: He is the son of Brent and Nikki Peterson ... His father, Brent, played baseball at Southwestern CC, while his cousin, Mitch Slauter, was a catcher at Mississippi State ... Majoring in advertising management ... Chose Michigan State because he has been a Spartan his entire life and loves the campus environment ... Picked the Spartans over Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Michigan and Western Michigan.
