2020 (SENIOR): Earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar recognition ... Collected Academic All-Big Ten accolades ... Made four starts, logging team-high 26.2 IP with a 1-1 record and 2.03 ERA ... Rang up 28 strikeouts, ranking third on Spartan staff, and even though a shortened season, still topped 2019’s season total of 27 Ks ... Rang up five or more strikeouts in all four outings ... Fired a career-high five Ks in game one of the twinbill with Morehead State (Feb. 15), only to top that with a new career-high nine Ks in pitching complete game vs. Merrimack (Feb. 22) ... In the outing vs. Merrimack, had a no-hitter going through 6.0 innings before yielding a base hit to open the seventh ... Then fired another standout start in next outing, vs. Western Carolina (Feb. 29), going 6.2 IP with three hits and two runs, while striking out six, the second-most of career ... Along with pitching, helped his own cause and more than fielded his position with a nice catch on a foul out, darting off the mound and snaring the catch in front of the Western Carolina dugout for the final out of the sixth inning for his third 1-2-3 frame of the contest ... 2019 (JUNIOR): Was versatile option on the mound, making 13 appearances, with six starts and seven calls to the bullpen ... Tallied 27 strikeouts in 32.2 IP with a 4.96 ERA, allowing 31 walks ... Went a career-high 5.0 IP in three outings, firing four strikeouts in two of those three outings, both of which were starts, at Notre Dame (April 9) and at Central Michigan (May 14) ... Also went 5.0 IP in start at Michigan (May 7), while also chalking up five punchouts in first start of career, vs. UConn (March 16 in Greenville) ... Rang up three or more strikeouts in six of 13 appearances, including four of six starts ... Had two appearances without allowing a hit, including in Spartan debut, at New Orleans (Feb. 17) ... BEFORE MSU: Played season at Parkland Junior College for head coach David Garcia, helping the Cobras advance to the NJCAA World Series, finishing fourth, ending the season with a 52-9-1 record ... Posted a 3-0 record with three saves, tallying a 3.18 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 34.0 IP in 15 appearances as a freshman ... Fired 15 Ks in 6.0 IP in win over Millikin ... Played both baseball and basketball in first year at Parkland, helping the basketball team to its third-straight Mid-West Athletic Conference, finishing fifth in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, before giving up basketball to pursue baseball full time.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a three-year letterwinner in high school, playing at Saint Bede Academy for head coach Bill Booker for first three years before transferring to Galesburg High School and playing for head coach Arnie Gonzalez ... Earned All-Western Big 6 Conference honors as an outfielder as a senior, seeing limited pitching action due to an injury ... Was an all-state honoree as a junior at Saint Bede, posting a 0.50 ERA and firing 17 Ks in one game, in helping the Bruins to a fourth-place finish at the IHSA Class 2A state tournament ... Sister, Katie, was a four-year letterwinner on the Grand Valley State volleyball team (2014-17), where she was a two-time All-GLIAC honoree and finished No. 8 on GVSU’s career assists list (2,545 assists) and No. 9 on career assists per game (7.03) ... Aunt, Cathy George, is the Michigan State head volleyball coach and cousin, Conner George, was on the Spartan men’s basketball team ... Chose MSU because of he wanted to play at the highest level he could, while being pushed to be the best all-around pitcher he could, as well as the all-around athletic and academic culture for success and because of his family connections ... Intends on majoring in physical therapy with career ambitions of being a physical therapist ... Picked the Spartans over Eastern Kentucky, Illinois State, Liberty, Miami-Ohio, Murray State, North Carolina State, Tulsa and Western Michigan.
