CAREER NOTES: Earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar accolades ... Collected Academic All-Big Ten honors ... Two-time Crosstown Showdown Home Run Derby Champion (2017, 2018), the annual exhibition game between MSU and the Lansing Lugnuts.
2020 (JUNIOR): Collected Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors ... Earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition ... Played in eight of 15 games in shortened season, starting six games, with five starts at catcher and one at designated hitter, while missing seven games due to injury ... Was 1-for-1 with three runs and three walks in season-opener vs. Morehead State (Feb. 14) and followed that up with 1-for-3 with run scored next day vs. Morehead State (Feb. 15) ... Added RBI and run scored vs. Merrimack (Feb. 21) ... Threw out three potential base stealers, which ranked tied for eighth in B1G, along with 54 putouts and five assists on way to perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
2019 SOPHOMORE: Led MSU and ranked 16th in the B1G with nine home runs ... With nine round-trippers out of 17 hits last season, was the only player in the country with five or more round-trippers to have half of their hits be home runs; the next closest player was Jason Hinchman of Tennessee Tech, who ha 24 home runs of his 55 hits ... Over half of hits were for extra bases, as along with his nine home runs, he had two double for 11 extra-base hits of his 17 total hits ... On April 23 vs. Oakland, smashed a three-run home run deep into the Red Cedar River beyond the right field wall as part of a six-run sixth inning for the Green & White ... It was his second-straight game with a home run into the Red Cedar, also sending one into the river the previous game vs. Indiana on April 21 ... The round-tripper against the Hoosiers was a solo shot in the sixth inning of game two .... Blasted the first pitch he saw into the Red Cedar River with a shot high into the trees and just inside the right field foul line ... At Purdue on May 4, hit a towering deep home run that cleared not just the right field fence, but the Spartans' bullpen and landed in the Purdue soccer field, a good distance from the edge of the baseball stadium - Purdue right fielder Cole McKenzie didn't even move, only shuffling his feet to watch the ball sail out of the park.
2018 (FRESHMAN): Played in 33 games, starting 28, missing several games and limited in others due to an injury ... hit .217 for the season with 12 RBI, including three doubles and two home runs ... Registered first collegiate hit as part of first multi-hit and multi-RBI outing, going 2-for-4 with two RBI at Pepperdine (Feb. 24) ... Had a smashing return to the MSU lineup after being out with an injury, belting first home run of his Spartan career on a three-run shot in the seventh inning against Notre Dame (April 10) as part of career-high three RBI outing ... In return to action, posted 16 of his 20 hits on the season, including all three doubles and both HR in that stretch, adding nine of his 12 total RBI ... Had total of four multi-hit outings and three multi-RBI games, including posting two RBI vs. Ohio State (May 18), which came a day after just missing the game-winning hit caught at the wall at the top of the berm by OSU right fielder in the bottom of the ninth ... Made season-high 15 putouts in collegiate debut, starting season-opener at Fresno State (Feb. 16), one of eight double-digit putout games for the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a four-year letterwinner at Saint Johns High School under head coach Jake Parker, where he is a three-time All-Division I All-Area, as well as three-time All-Capital Area Conference ... Named to Lansing State Journal Dream Team as well as a finalist for the Lansing State Journal Baseball Player of the Year ... Also a three-time all-district honoree, as well as two-time all-region selection ... Ranked as the No. 6 catcher and No. 84 overall in Prep Baseball Report Top 400 players in country ... Also ranked as the No. 1 catcher and No. 4 overall player in Michigan according to Prep Baseball Report, as well as the No. 1 catcher and No. 6 overall player by Perfect Game rankings ... Batted .437 with 35 RBI, including seven HRs, which tied for first in the mid-Michigan statistical rankings ... Played summer league for Capitol City Kings and head coach Joe McDonald.
