Field Hockey To Celebrate Senior Day against No. 13 Indiana Friday

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State field hockey returns home to Ralph Young Field this weekend for a pair of high-profile Big Ten Conference tests, hosting No. 13-ranked Indiana on Friday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m., before welcoming sixth-ranked Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 4 at noon. Fans in attendance on Friday are encouraged to park in Lot 62 near IM West due to men's basketball and men's hockey games on campus Friday night.

Friday's game will be televised nationally on Big Ten Network, while Sunday's matchup will be streamed live on B1G+.
Michigan State is celebrating senior day on Friday afternoon against the Hoosiers and will honor its four seniors post-game. Student-Athletes being honored include Bianca Pizano, Natalie Arnold, Minke Klijn and Serena Mailhe.

The Spartans are led by first-year head coach Tamara Durante, entering the weekend 4-5 following a loss to Northwestern on the road last Friday. Pizano leads MSU in scoring with 11 points on the season on five goals and one assist. Four Spartans are tied for second in scoring with two goals each (Ellie Kendall, Lilian Knorr, Mora Cavazza, Caroline Horace).

In goal, Lola Munoz de Verger and Catherine Wolf split time evenly as a true tandem. Wolf leads with a .688 save percentage while Munoz de Verger has posted a 2.62 goals-against average.

Friday's tilt against Indiana marks the 38th meeting between the two programs. Michigan State holds a 27-10 advantage in the all-time series. The Spartans will look to protect home turf and secure their first win over Indiana since a 3-0 shutout in East Lansing on Sept. 24, 2023.

The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series 59-16-1. Iowa claimed a 6-0 victory when the two teams met last season. Michigan State will aim to earn their first victory over Iowa since Oct. 25, 2024, when the Spartans earned a 2-1 overtime win at Ralph Young Field.
