NOTES TO KNOW:
• Freshman goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen was named the Big Ten's Third Star of the Week following a 25 save performance at RIT last Saturday in front of a crowd of 10,556. Ravensbergen made 15 saves in the third period alone and five stops on the penalty kill. It's the first weekly conference honor by a Spartan goaltender since Trey Augustine on Dec. 30, 2025.
Â
• Michigan State played in front of a crowd of 10,556 at Blue Cross Arena on Oct. 27, marking the sixth-largest crowd in NCAA hockey this season and the only game of 10,000 or more fans that didn't include North Dakota.
Â
• MSU defeated RIT, 5-1, during Brick City Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 27. The Spartans led 2-1 through two periods before a shorthanded goal from Tommi Männistö made it 3-1 and took the wind out of RIT's sails in the third period.
Â
• Anthony Romani (1-2-3) continued his hot start to the season with three points against the Tigers, giving him seven points through three games for Michigan State (4-3-7). Romani is currently #2 nationally in goals per game (1.33) and #2 nationally in points per game (2.33).
Â
• Chase Reid's five points (1-4-5) is tied for fifth among all NCAA defensemen this season and his 1.67 points per game is #11 overall nationally and #2 among defensemen. His 1.33 assists per game rank #6 nationally overall.
Â
• Eric Nilson (1-4-5) and Ryker Lee (2-3-5) are tied with Reid for #11 nationally in points per game (1.67). Nilson matches Reid in assists/game at 1.33.
Â
• MSU is ranked No. 2 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls, up from No. 3 in both polls for the first time this season after three consecutive weeks at No. 3.
Â
• Head Coach Adam Nightingale is 2 wins away from 100 in his career as a Spartan. Entering this weekend Nightingale is 98-44-11 overall with a .676 career winning percentage. Ron Mason was the quickest to reach 100 wins at MSU, doing so in 182 games. Nightingale has coached in 153 since taking over as head coach.
Â
• Michigan State has the second-most NHL draft selections on its roster in the NCAA this season with 17. MSU's nine first round picks are the most of any NCAA team this season. There are only 30 first round NHL selections slated to play college hockey in 2026-27, with MSU rostering 30% of them.
