
Spartan Men’s Tennis Set for High-Stakes Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal Clash Against USC

Third-seeded MSU looks to build on previous USC victory as Spartans face No. 6 Seed USC in Columbus on Friday
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's tennis team enters the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 3 seed and is set for a high-stakes quarterfinal clash against No. 6 seed USC on Friday, April 25. First serve is slated for 4 p.m. ET at Ohio State's Auer Tennis Complex in Columbus, Ohio.
The 2025 Big Ten Tournament runs from April 24–27 and will be streamed live on B1G+.

The Spartans will be facing the Trojans for the second time this season, as their last match on April 11 in Los Angeles ended in a 4-3 victory for the Spartans.

No. 28 Michigan State men's tennis earned its fourth upset of the spring with a gritty 4-3 road win over No. 26 USC.
With the match tied 3-3, senior Max Sheldon sealed the victory at No. 3 singles after USC's Oscar Weightman retired due to injury in a tight final battle.
USC took the doubles point, but MSU rallied in singles with wins from Ozan Baris, Mitchell Sheldon, and Matthew Forbes. The match came down to Max Sheldon, whose dramatic finish clinched the upset for the Green & White.

USC closed its regular season with a win over Wisconsin and enters the tournament at the No. 6 seed with a 14-9 overall record and an 8-5 mark in Big Ten play. The Trojans boast one nationally ranked singles player—Peter Makk, who sits at No. 17 in the ITA rankings.
