The Spartans are returning to the road after a weekend of important victories over Penn State and No. 1 Ohio State, dealing the Buckeyes their first Big Ten home loss since 2003.
Michigan State came out of the weekend climbing the rankings to No. 35, with multiple players earning rankings in doubles and singles. The Spartans currently hold a 4-0 conference record.
Spartan sophomore Matthew Forbes garnered Big Ten Player of the Week honors on Wednesday, continuing to make a statement on the court, which included clinching the upset and delivering a statement win against No. 22 Jack Anthrop of Ohio State, battling through a three-set match before coming out victorious, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, to seal the upset Victory for MSU. Forbes has proven himself among the nation's top competitors and aims to use recent victories to fuel him forward.
Facing Northwestern will be another difficult match for the Spartans. Claiming the doubles point will give them an early advantage on the scoreboard and will give them momentum going into singles action.
