No. 28 MSU Men’s Tennis Drops West Coast Finale At No. 32 UCLA Sunday

Spartans conclude California road trip with hard-fought battle against nationally-ranked Bruins.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Michigan State men's tennis dropped the final road match of the season to No. 32 UCLA, 4-1, on Sunday, April 13.
With the loss, Michigan State drops to 14-8 overall and 9-3 in Big Ten play, leveling its weekend in Los Angeles record at 1-1 after winning at USC on Friday, and Sunday's loss snapped the Spartans' three-match winning streak. UCLA improves to 11-8 on the season and 9-2 in the Big Ten, extending its winning streak to three.
Switching up the doubles pairing, junior Ozan Baris/freshman Matthew Forbes start out the Spartans at No. 1 doubles, freshman Vuk Radjenovic/freshman Danial Rakhmatullayev slide into the No. 2 spot and brother duo-senior Max Sheldon and freshman Mitchell Sheldon rounded out the doubles pairings at No. 3 doubles pairing.
UCLA made their mark in doubles when Spencer Johnson/Aadarsh Tripathi defeated Radjenovic/Rakhmatullayev, 6-3.
The Spartans came back to grab the doubles point with victories from Ma. Sheldon/Mi. Sheldon against Ballotta/Van Loben Sels from UCLA, 6-4 and Baris/Forbes defeated Revelli/Hoogermartens of UCLA, 6-2.
The Green & White headed into their singles matches, continuing the momentum from the doubles victory.
The Bruins struck early as Rudy Quan of UCLA took down Baris 6-1, 6-2 to tie up the team score.
Putting UCLA ahead was Alexander Hoogermartens as he took down Radjenovic 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in a tough, back-and-forth match.
Continuing their singles success, Emon Van Loben Sels of UCLA defeated Ma. Sheldon in a 6-4, 6-4 battle.
Aadarsh Tripathi from UCLA secured the match for the Bruins as he took down Mi. Sheldon, 6-4, 6-4.
With the points in favor of the Bruins, the remaining two matches went unfinished.

The Spartans return home to face in-state rival No. 21 Michigan for Senior Day to celebrate Max Sheldon and Josh Portnoy on Saturday, April 19, at 12 p.m. EST.
