Spartans WIn 3-1 at Central Michigan

Mt. Pleasant, Mich. - Michigan State earned a road victory over Central Michigan on Sunday, posting a 3-1 victory over the Chippewas in Mt. Pleasant. The Spartans improve to 7-6 on the season. Spartan senior Emma O'Neill had a pair of goals in the contest.
After the teams got through a scoreless opening quarter, O'Neill got MSU on the board first, converting on MSU's seventh corner opportunity of the game at 23:01. The Spartans scored twice in the third quarter, first from freshman Lilian Knorr just under five minutes into the frame. O'Neill potted her second of the day at 43:49, making it a 3-0 lead.
The Chippewas broke up the shutout with a goal by Mallory Camryn with just 64 seconds remaining in regulation.
MSU had a 22-8 edge in shot attempts (10-2 on goal) and had 10 penalty corners to seven for the Chippewas.
MSU returns to Big Ten play for the remainder of the 2024 season. The Spartans head to New Jersey for a 1 pm contest against Rutgers on Friday before a Sunday date at No. 17 Penn State.

- Emma O'Neill's two-goal effort is her first multiple-goal game of the season. With five goals, she is now tied for first on the team with sophomore Bianca Pizano.
- Lilian Knorr potted her fourth goal of the season in the second quarter. She is tied with Ellie Rutherford and Maddie Lawlor for second on the squad in goals and is now one of five Spartans with double-digit points totals.
- Knorr has goals in back-to-back games – she also scored MSU's lone goal in the Friday setback against No. 6 Maryland.
- Jillian Bonczewski picked up her second assist of the season and now has a 3-2-8 scoring line.
- Lyra Gavino made one save in earning her sixth win of the season.
