What you need to know about Spartan Hockey (Click on "Game Notes" above for full media supplement)
• Michigan State plays its final two-game home series of the season, hosting Notre Dame.  The Spartans lead the all-time meetings of the teams by a 66-57-16 margin.  MSU holds a 37-23-5 mark in games played in East Lansing.  Sixteen of the last 17 meetings between the teams have been settled by two goals or less.  Six of the games have been one-goal affairs and five have been ties.  Michigan State alumnus Jeff Jackson is in his 18th season at Notre Dame, and 25th as a head coach in the college game.
• At the conclusion of Saturday's game, the Spartans will honor their 10 seniors. While some joined the program for this season as grad transfers and others have played at Michigan State for four (or even five) seasons, each has had a part in the success of this program and we wish them the best in their future endeavors. The players being honored are Justin Jallen, Jagger Joshua, Christian Krygier, Cole Krygier, Erik Middendorf, Miroslav Mucha, Nicolas Muller, Ryan Nolan, Dylan St. Cyr, and Michael Underwood.Â
•  With a 13-13-2 record, MSU has surpassed its win total for all of 2021-22 (12), the most since 2019-20 (15 wins). MSU last finished over .500 in 2014-15 (17-16-2).  The Spartans have taken points out of six of their nine B1G weekends and from five of six B1G opponents.  MSU's seven B1G conference victories is the second-most for MSU in its B1G history - the Spartans won 11 B1G games in both 2014-15 (37 points) and 2019-20 (35 points). Â
•  With 79 goals scored through 28 games, the Spartans have matched their 36-game total from 2021-22.  (2.82 goals per game, fifth B1G).  The Spartans are on pace to score 102 goals (based on a 36-game minimum number of games).  Since 2009, MSU has scored 100 goals in a season just twice (2011-12, 111 and 2009-10, 115) and had scored 100+ in each year from 1960-61 to 2007-08.  Â
• MSU's top line of Karsen Dorwart centering Jagger Joshua and Daniel Russell are three of the top four scorers for MSU, with a combined 27 goals and 67 points.   Dorwart had a goal and an assist in the Saturday game at Minnesota, Russell also had a goal, and Joshua finished with two assists on the night.  Joshua leads the team with 11 goals (ninth, B1G), five power play goals (T-fourth B1G) and has collected nine assists.  He owns career bests in all offensive categories, and his 20 points more than doubles his point production in any previous collegiate season.Â
• Cole Krygier scored his ninth goal of the season Saturday at Minnesota.   His nine goals is the most for a Spartan defenseman since Torey Krug scored 12 (34) points in the 2012-13 season, in which he was a Hobey finalist.  Cole Krygier's nine goals ranks second on the team, and his 9-4-13 scoring line features career bests in both goals and points.  His nine goals ranks in a tie for second among Division I defensemen in goals this season and leads all B1G rearguards. Â
• Dylan St. Cyr has matched or surpassed his previous single-season bests in games played (27), wins (12), saves (786) and minutes played (1563).  St.  Cyr's 786 saves is second behind league leader Ryan Bischel from Notre Dame (879) and third among Division I goalies.  His 29.11 saves per game average ranks third in the Conference.  Among active Division I goalies, St.  Cyr ranks fifth in goaltender wins (38) and career shutouts (12), 13th in winning percentage (.579),  save percentage, career saves (1,877), and 24th in GAA.
