Indiana secures series win
SPARTAN SYNOPSIS
Michigan State dropped the first game of a doubleheader to RV/RV Indiana on Sunday morning, 6-3. Indiana (27-10, 2-3 B1G) secured the series victory after a win on Friday.
The Indiana lead was built steadily and methodically, scoring single runs in the third and fourth and tacking on two runs in each the fourth and fifth innings. Sarah Galovich was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day, driving in two runs; Taylor Lambert was 2-for-3 on the day with a two-run homer, while Katie Lacefield was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI. Emily Goodin tossed the complete game, striking out six and walking three.
The Spartans (11-20, 1-4 B1G) gave the start to sophomore McKenna Gregory, her first of her career. She surrendered 10 base hits and struck out four, walking just two. MSU's base hits went to Kaitlyn Eveland, Laney Joyner, and Melanie Baccay, while Lexi White had a pair of RBI.
The teams finish the doubleheader with a 2 pm game that will air on Big Ten Network.

- Indiana got on the board in the bottom of the second. Katie Lacefield reached on an error to start the inning, but Gregory got the next two batters on fly balls. On a steal attempt by pinch runner Makayla
Ferrarri , the Spartans committed a second error in the inning, allowing Ferrari to take third. She came home on an RBI single by Sarah Galovich.
- The Hoosiers put back-to-back runners on to lead off the bottom of the third, but Gregory got the next two outs on a strikeout and a fly ball. Lacefield followed with an RBI double to double the Indiana lead.
- Indiana doubled its lead again in the fourth, as Galovich singled, and then Taylor Lambert homered to right center.
- The Spartans got on the board in the top of the fifth – a fielder's choice by Melanie Baccay and bunt single by Laney Joyner – followed by an IU error – allowed both runners to advance into scoring position. A groundout by Lexi White brought home Baccay to make it a 4-1 ballgame.
- Lacefield struck again for the Hoosiers with her second RBI hit of the day in the fifth, plating pinch runner Tete Hart. Later in the inning, Galovich doubled to right center
to late Grayson Radcliffe, who had reached on a fielder's choice.
- The Spartans staged a rally in the seventh, putting on the first three runners on a pair of base hits by
Kaityn Eveland and Melanie Baccay; Laney Joyner reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Eveland to make it a 6-2 ballgame. Baccay and Joyner advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch, and Baccay came home on a ground ball out by Lexi White.
