East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State field hockey team shutout Ohio, 1-0, Friday afternoon in Spartan Stadium. The Spartans improve their record to 3-2 on the season, while the Bobcats fall to 0-3.
Midfielder Julia Adams (Soph., N. Vancouver, B.C.) scored the game's only goal on an assist from Jenny Sanders (Soph., West Vancouver, B.C.) with 3:50 remaining in the first half. After a broken penalty corner attempt, Sanders set up Adams in front of the net to put the Spartans up for good, 1-0.
Goalie Mireille Evans (Soph., Castlegar, B.C.) posted nine saves en route to her second shutout of the season. The Bobcats had 11 shots and ten penalty corners but could not muster a shot past Evans. Tara Elliot had six saves for Ohio.
Michigan State returns to action Sunday, Sept. 10, to face the American Eagles at 1:00 p.m. in Spartan Stadium.
