MSU Women Take Center Stage at NCAA Track & Field East First Round Thursday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Michigan State's women took center stage on day two of the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday.
Two-time indoor All-American Elle Adrian started the Spartans in the morning in the hammer throw. Adrian was just outside the top 12, finishing 17th with a throw of 60.47m. She surpassed 60m on her second of three attempts.
Tess Roman was just shy of punching her ticket to Eugene in the javelin throw. Roman finished 14th with only the top 12 advancing to the finals. On her first attempt of the event, she threw 49.71m in the second flight. She had to wait for the final two flights to find out her fate.
Olivia Millen finished 42nd in the highly competitive 1500m. She ended the third heat with a time of 4:23.15. In the 800m, Sydnee Sinn finished 31st with a time of 2:05.80.
Rylan Finstrom finished 32nd in the shot put. Her longest throw of 15.54m was done on her first attempt.
Michigan State will have four men in action on Friday. Dalton DeBeau will get the Spartans started in the discus at 1 p.m. Â Brady Schultz will follow at 2 p.m. in the high jump. In the evening session, Andrew Nolan will look to return to Eugene for the second-straight year in the 3000m steeplechase at 5:40 p.m. The night will end with Thomas Westphal in his first NCAA First Round in the 5000m at 8:10 p.m.
