Top-10 finishes and Personal Bests Highlight Spartans’ Performance at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – Michigan State track & field had a successful weekend at the Raleigh Relays this weekend.
Thursday Results
Thursday's action was highlighted by a fifth-place finish by Tess Roman in the women's javelin. She threw 48.00m on her second throw of the event to reach the final but was not able to throw longer than that.
On the track, the bulk of the events were men's events. In the men's 1500m, Tim Cherry was the top Spartan finishing seventh with a time of 3:40.75. It was the third-fastest time in Michigan State history.
Three other Spartans earned personal bests in the 1500m. Owen Gilbert ran 3:47.79, while Brady McArdle (3:48.16) and Michael Hegarty (3:51.23) also earned PRs.
In the men's 5000m, Riley Hough returned to action finishing 19th in the highly-competitive race, crossing the line in 13:53.37.
Friday Results
On Friday, the pole vaulters led the way. In the pole vault invitational, Adam Blue finished fourth with a personal-best vault of 5.27m. It was the sixth-best vault in MSU history. In the open pole vault, Landon Cosby finished first with a season-best vault of 4.97m.
On the track, Kate Stewart-Barnett finished 18th in the highly-competitive 1500m with a time of 4:17.85. In the 400m, Lexy Wilson finished 10th with a season-best time of 54.27.
Saturday Results
Stewart-Barnett was back at it again on Saturday with a 10th-place finish in the 800m. She crossed the line in 2:07.15 which was the sixth-fastest in Spartan history. Sydnee Sinn finished 19th with a time of 2:08.29. Sinn also setting a new personal best.
In the men's 800m, Noah Sage had the best time, crossing the line in 1:52.81. Alex Yon had sa personal best with a time of 1:54.12.
Michigan State will now return to East Lansing for its only home meet the Spartan Invitational presented by Auto-Owners Insurance on Friday, April 3.
