Spartan Women’s Tennis Begins B1G Action Saturday At No. 2 Ohio State

Women’s tennis travels to Columbus, Ohio for their first Big Ten match and adds non-conference match against Bucknell.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's tennis ventures to Columbus, Ohio to begin their Big Ten Conference schedule in a match at No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday, Feb. 28, that will now start at 1 p.m.
Saturday's start time has been moved back an hour from the originally scheduled start time of 12 p.m., and will now be played on the Buckeyes' outdoor courts at the Auer Tennis Complex.
The Spartans also added a non-conference match to their weekend schedule, and will now play at Bucknell on Sunday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
MSU heads into their conference schedule with a 6-3 record, solely falling to Ivy League opponents during the start of their season.
Fans can follow Saturday's action from Columbus with "Watch Live" and "Live Results" links at MSUSpartans.com. Unfortunately, there will be no live scores or video for Sunday's match at Bucknell, but limited score updates will be posted on Twitter/X at @msu_wtennis.
Scouting No. 2 Ohio State
OSU has had a strong start to its season, slating a 8-1 record, only falling to Georgia in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in a narrow 3-4 defeat. Ohio State is the No. 2 ranked program by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), trailing only top-ranked Georgia.
The Buckeyes are currently No. 1 in the Big Ten Women's Tennis standings, after defeating Penn State on the road.
Currently, the Buckeyes have five ranked doubles pairings and five ranked singles contenders, three of which are in the top-50.
Series History vs. Ohio State
The Green & White have struggled versus Ohio State in the past, winning two matches in the recent series. Two Spartan victories were awarded during the 2005-06 and 2012-13 seasons.
This match is the first time the Spartans travel to Columbus, Ohio since the 2021-22 season.
MSU looks to clinch their first upset of the season against their Big Ten foe.
Scouting Bucknell
Bucknell had a difficult start to their season, managing a 5-4 overall record with all four losses being consecutive.
The Bison host Duquesne on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 12 p.m. in their home territory of Lewisburg, Pa.
Sunday's match between the Spartans and the Bison adds a last-minute non-conference match to both teams' schedule looking for an additional win prior to their conference seasons.
Series History vs. Bucknell
Sunday evening's match serves as the first meeting between MSU and Bucknell, where both teams seek out their first series victory.
