MSU Women’s Tennis Adds Player To Roster

Spartans add Lu “Lulu” Mengqiao for 2026-27 season.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's tennis head coach Kim Bruno announced the addition of Lu "Lulu" Mengqiao.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Lu Mengqiao to the Spartan family," Bruno said. "Her work ethic is unmatched, and her drive to succeed is exactly what we need to catapult our program forward. Spartan fans are going to love watching Lulu compete!"
A native of Beijing, China, Mengqiao has significant international experience, logging an ITF Junior ranking of 425. She was a J300 Semifinalist as well as a J100 Singles and Doubles Semifinalist, and has a UTR of 9.42.
Mengqiao joins a Spartan squad that finished 11-12 overall in 2025-26, and again posted several upsets of nationally-ranked opponents, including knocking off No. 39 Iowa and No. 54 Illinois. The Spartans finished No. 66 in the final ITA Rankings, MSU's highest ranked finish to a season since 2018, Coach Bruno's second season at the helm of the Spartans.
