The Starting XIÂ
The top notes you need to know about Michigan State women's soccer
•  Second-seeded Michigan State has advanced into the Big Ten championship game to take on No. 1 seed Washington on Sunday afternoon in St. Louis.  The game will air live on Big Ten Network, with the winner earning the Big Ten automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Â
•  The Spartans and Washington did not meet during the regular season and last met in 2024.  The Huskies took that game in Seattle by a 2-1 margin, snapping MSU's 14-game unbeaten streak (9-0-5) to start the season.  Â
•  The Spartans are in search of their first-ever Big Ten Tournament title and have only previously reached the Championship game once in program history:  the 2022 squad won the regular-season crown and fell to Penn State (3-1) in the final. Â
•  The UCLA win was the 300th in the career of Jeff Hosler, who is in his 20th season as a head coach (Alma, Grand Valley State, and Michigan State).  He is 67-17-19 in five seasons as the Spartan mentor.  Â
•  Michigan State's winning streak is at a season-best five games.  The Spartans began Big Ten play with a seven-game unbeaten streak (4-0-3). Â
•  With 47 goals through 20 games, MSU is first in the Big Ten in both total goals (12th nationally) and scoring offense (2.35, 17th nationally).  Of MSU's 47 goals on the season, 31 of them have come after halftime, compared to just six goals for Spartan opponents in the second 45. Â
•  Emerson Sargeant scored both of MSU's goals in the win over UCLA,  intercepting a goal kick just over three minutes into overtime for the game-winner.  It was her second brace of the season (she also scored twice at Wisconsin on Sept. 28).  She has surpassed her career best with seven goals - and her OT heroics delivered her team-best fourth game-winning score of the season (third, B1G).  Â
•  Kennedy Bell set up Sargeant's game-tying goal in the second half against UCLA, pushing her to a Big Ten-best 26 points on the season (10g, 6a).  She has tied Lauren DeBeau (11-4-26) for the highest-scoring player in the Jeff Hosler era and tied for 17th all-time in a single sea-son at MSU.  Bell is the Big Ten leader in goals (10), which ranks in a tie for 17th in MSU's all-time single season records.  Â
•  Junior Kayla Briggs had the lone goal in MSU's quarterfinal win over Northwestern.  She owns the team lead in assists (7, second B1G), and her 5-7-17 scoring line ranks in a tie for ninth in the league (and second on the team) in points.  Her seven assists are tied for 18th all-time in a single season at MSU. Â
Â
•  Senior Remini Tillotson has played valuable, increasing minutes over the recent stretch for the Spartans - and has started MSU's last three games, playing all 94 against UCLA.  She delivered a huge goal-line save in the first half against the Bruins.  Â
•  Noelle Henning tied her career best with six saves against the Bruins, established in the Sept. 18 meeting with UCLA and again on the road against Iowa in October.  Her career-best shutout streak ended (with UCLA's goal on Thursday) at 255:54, dating back to the Illinois game (10/19). She has started 16 MSU games and owns a 1.22 GAA and .750 save percentage.  Â
