East Lansing, Mich. --  Head coach Jeff Hosler has announced the addition of Tori Christ to the Spartan soccer coaching staff.  Christ was most recently an assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where she also served as the program's recruiting coordinator and oversaw goalkeepers. Christ previously held assistant coaching positions at Boston University and her alma mater, Cornell, after playing professionally for four seasons, both here in the NWSL and abroad.Â
Â
"Tori is one of the most respected goalkeeper trainers in collegiate soccer, and I'm thrilled to have her join our excellent staff. Not only is she a great teacher, but she excelled in the position as a college and professional player herself, which will provide great mentorship to our aspiring players," noted Hosler. "Everyone I talked to had nothing but incredible things to say about her work ethic, attention to detail, development of players, and ability to connect with people."
Â
A total of six keepers under her tutelage have gone on to play professionally, including two from her stop in Ann Arbor. From 2019-2021, Christ was an assistant coach at Boston University and worked primarily with the Terrier keepers. In 2020, BU won the Patriot League North Division, and during the fall 2021 season, BU captured the Patriot League regular-season title. Her 2021 goalkeeping tandem ranked in the top three in the Patriot League in goals-against average (1.11) and shutouts (7), allowing more than one goal just once in league play.  In Christ's first season with the Terriers in 2019, her charges led the Patriot League in saves per game (5.53) and saves (105).
Christ also served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Cornell, where her pupil, Meghan Kennedy, earned All-Ivy League honorable mention honors after leading the league with 94 saves. Â
Christ played professionally for four seasons -- two with the Boston Breakers (NWSL) in 2014 and 2015. She went overseas for the next two years, helping Sweden's Västerås BK30 win the Widerlöv Cup in 2015, and then played one final season with Rovaniemen Palloseura in Finland in 2016.
Christ was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Cornell (2010-13). While competing for the Big Red, Christ was a two-time captain and the program's first three-time winner of the Randy May Coaches' Award, given to the player who best exemplifies the spirit and dedication to Cornell soccer that the program's first head coach, Randy May, embodied. In 2012, Christ led the Ivy League with 88 saves, which ranks 11th in Cornell's single-season record book.
Christ graduated from Cornell in 2014 with a degree in psychology. She attended high school at Nardin Academy, becoming the youngest alumni to be inducted upon graduation in the Athletics Hall of Fame when she was a part of the Class of 2021. Â Christ was also named a United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 in the 2021-2022 class, which highlights coaches who are leading the way in developing soccer players and enhancing the game.
In January of 2026, Christ was asked to serve as a panelist on goalkeeper development and evaluation and to give a presentation on talent identification at the collegiate level at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia. She has also been selected for Carolina Ascent's (Gainbridge Super League) inaugural goalkeeping mentorship program and US Soccer's (USYNT) ID Center in Atlanta in 2026.
