Four Spartans head to Ann Arbor to compete in the weekend action.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's tennis will be sending four players to Ann Arbor this weekend, Oct. 10-12, to compete in the Wolverine Invitational.
Action will be held at UM's Varsity Tennis Center. Weekend play opens Friday with singles matches starting at 11 a.m., followed by doubles starting at 2 p.m., with another round of singles at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's action is slated to start at 10 a.m. both days.
Fans that can't make it to Ann Arbor in person can follow that action with "Live Results" and "Watch Live" links at MSUSpartans.com.
The Green & White send sophomore Ellie Blackford, sophomore Amara Brahmbhatt, junior Matilde Morais and freshman Nina Plihal for the weekend action.
This marks the first time competing this season for Ellie Blackford, while Brahmbhat, Morais and Plihal had already competed previously.
Plihal recently made her collegiate and Spartan women's tennis debut in the Michigan State Classic, presented by Auto Owner's Insurance last weekend, where she slated a 3-3 overall record. The Austrian showed demure on and off the course, locking in two singles victories in her first collegiate match-up.
Brahmbhatt and Morais both competed in the ITA All-American Championships Pre-Qualifying round, where they both ultimately fell in difficult contests against their opponents.
The Spartans are set to compete against talent from Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Miami, Michigan, Northwestern and Ohio State.
