MSU moves to 15-26 (2-12 B1G) on the season while Michigan improves to 30-14 (11-3 B1G).
Senior Ashlyn Roberts (0-1) made her second start of the season and her second consecutive start for the Spartans after contributing to last Sunday's win over Penn State. Roberts was relieved in the first inning by Taylor with one out.
Taylor lowered her season ERA to 4.49 with a gem in relief, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with just two hits and a walk allowed. The Fortville, Ind. native struck out two in the effort, both ending their respective innings.

Entering the game with one down in the first, Taylor recorded outs on 17 of the next 21 batters she faced. One Wolverine baserunner reached on an error. Only two runners reached third base against Taylor, with one advancing two bases from first on a ball thrown out of play.
Sophomore Hannah Hawley provided the offense with a second inning home run. Her 11 homers on the season moves Hawley into a fifth-place tie for the program record in single season dingers. Senior Anna Fox and sophomore Sydney Doloszycki singled for the Spartans. Senior Collette Allen, junior Mik Anthony and Hawley all drew walks for MSU.
Michigan got out to a quick 5-0 lead and didn't look back using five first inning hits to its advantage. Taylor came on in relief and recorded the final two outs of the first.
After Taylor tossed a scoreless second, Hawley picked the Spartan offense up with her 11th long ball of the season. Hawley's two-out solo shot to right had the distance on its own but was aided by a bounce off the Wolverine right fielder's glove. Hawley is now tied for the team-high in home runs this season alongside sophomore Britain Beshears.

Allen and Anthony each drew walks in the seventh as Michigan State looked to rally late. Sophomore pinch hitter Kayla Bane put a ride on a ball to deep center with one out, but with the wind blowing in her barreled ball fell into a Michigan glove at the warning track.
