• No. 11 Michigan State (12-7-1, 6-5-1 B1G) prepares for the 57th annual Great Lakes Invitational, an all-State of Michigan field which features Ferris State, No. 18/19 Western Michigan and No. 17/16 Michigan Tech. MSU owns a 49-39-4 all-time record in the holiday classic and 12 titles.  The Spartans are, however, looking for their first title since 2009.  Â
•  In its final action before the holiday break, MSU split a home-and-home series with Michigan, each team earning a 2-1 win on its home ice.  Cole Krygier and Tiernan Shoudy scored the goals at Munn while Jagger Joshua had the honors at Yost, with Dylan St. Cyr earning B1G Third Star of the Week honors after stopping 47 of 50 shots against in the series. Â
•  MSU's offense is the pleasant surprise of the season.  The Spartans averaged 2.11 goals per game in 2021-22, scoring 76 times.  Through 20 games, the current MSU squad has 64 goals, averaging 3.20 goals per contest - fifth in the Big Ten and 15th nationally.  MSU's 2.55 goals allowed per game is fourth in the Big Ten.  MSU ranks 11th nationally in goals scored (64) and  sixth in shots on goal (676, 33.8 per game).  Â
•  MSU boasts seven players who have already established new career single-season highs in goals, assists, or points (including seniors Jagger Joshua, Nicolas Müller, and Cole Krygier).  In addition, three of MSU's five freshmen who have played this season are in double-digit points. Â
•  MSU's top line of Karsen Dorwart (7-11-18) centering  Jagger Joshua (7-6-13) and Daniel Russell (6-13-19) are three of the top five  scorers for MSU, with a combined 20 goals and 50 points.  Senior Nicolas Müller has increased his team lead to 15 assists, while his 3-15-18 scoring line is single-season bests in all three categories.   Â
 •  Cole Krygier had a goal in the first game against Michigan, which was his third all-time goal against the Wolverines (the most of any active player).  It was his fifth goal this season, establishing a new single-season best in his career.  He owns a 5-2-7 scoring line on the year (+5) with 15 blocked shots.
