
Spartan Track & Field Head Back to Bloomington

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State track & field will head to Bloomington, Indiana for the second of three meets hosted by the University of Indiana on Friday, April 9. The Big Ten Invite #2, which will was originally to be held over two days will now just be a one-day meet to be held at Billy Hayes Track & Field Complex.
"Aspects of our competition have changed. Some will no longer double, but we are still looking forward to this opportunity to compete. We are expecting our athletes to support one another and to immerse themselves in the competition," Interim Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Lisa Breznau said.
The Spartans had their best outdoor meet of the season at the Big Ten Invite #1 March 26-27.
On the women's side, nine different athletes have qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, including Shakira Dancy and Rebecca Mammel qualifying in two different events. On the men's side, eight different men have qualified, including Ryan Talbot, Antonio Postell and Jerimiah Evans qualifying in multiple events.
Action on Friday will begin at 3 p.m. with the women's hammer with the men's to follow. On the track, the women's 4x100m relay will start the day with the men's to follow. The field events will conclude with the women's discus at 7:30 p.m. followed by the men's. The final track events will be the women's 3,000m at 10:20 p.m. followed by the men's.
Several Spartans will be making their 2021 outdoor debut, including All-American seniors Dillon McClintock and Morgan Beadlescomb. McClintock will make her debut in the women's 800m. Beadlescomb will make his debut in the 1500m along with Justin Ferraro, Brayden Law, Steven Stine, Fraser Wilson, Zacaray Wright-Fisher, James Uhlenberg and John Petruno.
"I would like our team to remember that they can control their behavior and outlook and so to focus on what we can control," Breznau said.
Following the Big Ten Invite #2, the Spartans will split squads with part of the team going to the back to Bloomington with the Big Ten Indiana Invite #3 and the rest going to the Husker Big Ten Invitational in Prairie View, Texas and hosted by the University of Nebraska.
