Michigan State Loses at No. 2 Iowa

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's field hockey team gave up three goals in the second half as No. 2 Iowa beat the Spartans, 5-0, on Friday afternoon in Iowa City.
It was the fifth-straight loss for the Spartans, who fall to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten Conference. Iowa improves to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the league.
The Hawkeyes scored twice in the first quarter and went into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Iowa added two more goals in the third quarter and closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter.
Iowa had a 21-0 advantage in shots and a 9-0 edge in penalty corners.
Junior Monique Jardell (Granville, Ohio/Granville) made four saves for the Spartans.
The team's close out the two-game weekend series on Sunday, March 28 at 1 p.m.
