Spartans Wrap-Up Round One at the Marquette Intercollegiate

HARTFORD, Wisconsin -- The Michigan State men's golf team opened play with the first round of the Marquette Intercollegiate on Sunday at Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin. The Spartans shot a 15-over-par 303 and are in 10th place.

Northwestern is one of just three teams under par and leads the 11-team field at 2-under-par 286.
Sophomore James Piot led MSU with a 2-over-par 74 and is tied for 30th place. Piot, like the rest of the Spartans, started on hole No. 10 and was 4-over-par at the turn. He bounced back with seven birdies and two pars to go 2-under-par.
Senior Donnie Trosper shot a 3-over-par 75. He was 2-over-par at the turn and then 1-over-par on the final nine holes and is tied for 36th place.
Junior Andrew Walker shaved two strokes off his front-nine score, going 3-over-par and then 1-over-par, respectively, to finish with a 4-over-par 76.
Freshman Troy Taylor II fired a 6-over-par 78 and sophomore Devin Deogun a 7-over-par 79.
Junior Kaleb Johnson is playing as an individual and shot a 4-over-par 76.
Gonzalo Leal of Iowa leads the tournament after a 5-under-par 67.
Round two will get underway at 10 a.m. ET on Monday.
