Spartans Eighth After Two Rounds at the Fighting Irish Classic

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The Michigan State men's golf team is in eighth place after two rounds of play at the Fighting Irish Classic in Notre Dame, Indiana. The Spartans are 1-under-par 567 after Sunday's two rounds at The Warren Golf Course.
Illinois leads the 15-team field at 30-under-par 538.
Donnie Trosper led the Spartans' effort on Sunday with a pair of 1-under-par 70s. At 2-under-par 140, Trosper is tied for 19th place. Trosper had five birdies and an eagle in his opening round and had a consistent second round with 11 straight pars to end the day.
Troy Taylor II had the lowest round of the day as he shot a 3-under-par 68 to start the day. He shot a 2-over-par 73 in round two and is 1-under-par 141 for the tournament - tied for 30th place.
Andrew Walker was the third Spartan to shoot under par in round one with a 1-under-par 70. He shot a 1-over-par 72 in round two and is in 38th place at even-par 142.
James Piot carded a pair of 1-over-par 72s. Like Trosper, he also eagled the par-5 10th hole in the opening round. He's 2-over-par 144 and in 49th place.
Kaleb Johnson is 9-over-par 151 (74-77).
Notre Dame's John Felitto leads the tournament at 12-under-par 130 (64-66).
The Spartans will tee off in the final round on Monday between 8:30 – 9:06 a.m.
