"Our end to the fall puts a premium on our offseason as we put ourselves behind the eight ball," MSU head coach Casey Lubahn said. "We have to make strides and it's one of the most important offseasons we've had in my time here. We need to be ready to go when the Big Ten Match Play Championship comes around in February."
Host UNCG won the tournament at 5-over-par 869 (289-282-298).
Two Spartans placed in the top 10 as James Piot tied for sixth place and Donnie Trosper tied for 10th. Piot had his best round of the tournament on Sunday with a 2-under-par 70, which included an eagle on the par-5 13th hole. For the tournament he was even-par 216 (74-72-70).
Trosper shot a 4-over-par 76 on Sunday to finish two strokes back of Piot at 2-over-par 218 (69-73-76).
It's the third top-10 finish of the fall for Trosper and the second for Piot.
"I think both guys are separating themselves on our squad," Lubahn said. "They've been consistent and steady all fall. They're both working to reach the elite level of our league and they have a lot to build off of going into the spring."
Troy Taylor II had his best round of the tournament with a 2-over-par 74 on Sunday. He finished 40th at 12-over-par 228 (77-77-74).
Kaleb Johnson shot a 7-over-par 79 on Sunday and was 20-over-par 236 (79-78-79). Devin Deogun was 25-over-par 241 (78-76-87).
Scott Dunsire played as an individual and was 30-over-par 246 (84-80-82).
The Spartans' schedule resumes Feb. 8-9, 2019 with the Big Ten Match Play Championship.
