Spartans Continue Play at the Marquette Intercollegiate

HARTFORD, Wisconsin -- For the second consecutive day, the Michigan State men's golf team battled rainy conditions at Erin Hills Golf Course on day two of the Marquette Intercollegiate. The Spartans shot a 16-over-par 304 in Monday's second round and are tied for ninth place overall at 31-over-par 607 (303-304).
No. 12 Arizona State leads the tournament at 2-over-par 578 after a 3-over-par 291 in Tuesday's second round.
Troy Taylor II dropped four strokes off his first-round score to lead MSU with a 2-over-par 74 on Tuesday. Taylor had a solid end to his round with pars on the final four holes and on seven of the last eight.
Taylor is 8-over-par 152 (78-74) for the tournament and tied for 37th place.
James Piot and Andrew Walker both shot 3-over-par 75s on Monday. Piot, who started his round on the 10th hole, bogeyed No. 6 and 7, but responded with birdies on the final two holes.
Piot is leading the Spartans at 5-over-par 149 (74-75) for the tournament and is tied for 25th place.
Walker had good end to his second round with three pars and a birdie over the last four holes. He is 7-over-par 151 (76-75) and tied for 33rd place.
Donnie Trosper and Devin Deogun carded 8-over-par 80s in Monday's second round. Trosper is 11-over-par 155 (75-80) for the tournament while Deogun is 15-over-par 159 (79-80).
Kaleb Johnson, who is playing individually, completed his second round after a late afternoon lightning delay, firing a 1-under-par 71. Johnson was one of just six players in the field to shoot under par on Tuesday and is 3-over-par 147 for the tournament - tied for 15th place overall.
ASU's Alex del Ray leads the tournament at 5-under-par 139 (69-70).
Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET.
