
Men's Tennis Begins Singles Play at Vredevelt Invitational

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team continued its excellent showing at the Vredevelt Invitational on Saturday. Four Spartans advanced to the championship match in their respective brackets.
Gijs Linders advanced to the championship match in the Flight A bracket. Linders defeated Alex Lawson of Notre Dame in the first round, 6-3, 6-4, and Jefta Kecic of WMU 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals. The championship match will pit Linders against WMU's Mike Steiner Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
Mac Roy and Harry Jadun will play each other in the Flight B bracket championship match. Roy defeated Billy Pecor of Notre Dame 6-4, 6-4 in his first match, and Xavier's Jeremy Schneider in the semifinals, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5). Jadun won his first-round match 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 against Joe VanMeter of CSU. In the semifinals, Jadun topped WMU's Andrew Cahn, 6-3, 6-3. Roy and Jadun will face off Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
Michael Dube also advanced to the championship match in the Flight E bracket. Dube won his first round match against Xavier's Arthur Sefanni, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. In the second round, Dube defeated Rowan Isaaks of the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Dube will play Colarado State's Manuel Belluti in the championship match Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m.
In the ITA All-American Championships, Brett Forman defeated Dominic Patrick of the University of Iowa in the pre-qualifying stage Saturday morning, 7-5, 7-5, and topped Trey Daniel of TCU in the evening, 6-2, 6-2. Forman will face Frankie Colunga of Texas A&M Sunday at 12 p.m. ET in the third round of pre-qualifying. John Patrick Mullane earned a bye as the No. 7 seed.
