
MTennis Suffers defeat against Minn.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team traveled to Minnesota this weekend to take on the No. 44 ranked Gophers in their second straight match against ranked Big Ten opponents. The Spartans came up short against the Gophers falling 7-0 on the road. MSU was able to win one doubles match along with taking four of the singles matches into three sets but were never able to gain a point.
Starting off the night in doubles play Pablo Ramirez and Toledo won the first match for Minnesota on court three defeating Denis Bogatov and Gijs Linders 8-2. The Spartans were able to tie it up however as Harry Jadun and Austin Brooks picked up a win on court two over Arndt and Hamburg by a score of 8-3. Minnesota then secured the doubles point on court one with a 8-2 victory for No. 23 ranked Bonin and Dehn over Aaron Pfister and Drew Lied.
Continuing into singles play Minnesota picked up two quick points to boost their lead to 3-0 as Toledo defeated Ronnie Hulewicz 6-2, 6-3 on court two and Arndt defeated Denis Bogatov 6-2, 6-2 on court three. From there MSU stayed competitive throughout the match bringing all four matches into three sets. The Gophers gained their next point on court six with a win for Froment over Gijs Linders 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
On court one Aaron Pfister won the first set over Bonin but then dropped the next two falling 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. On court five Drew Lied also won the first set but couldn't keep the momentum and fell in the next two losing the point by a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 score. Minnesota then picked up their final point of the match on court four with a victory for Dehn over Austin Brooks 6-3, 6-7 (2), 1-0 (6).
Michigan State now heads to Wisconsin for their second match of the weekend to take on the Badgers at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
