
Spartans Roll in Exhibition

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State field hockey team played its exhibition game on Friday against in-state rival Central Michigan, and posted a 10-1 score in a controlled game which included regulation, overtime, and penalty strokes. The exhibition allowed both teams to work under game conditions, allow each rostered player an opportunity to get into a game situation, and work on fundamentals, set plays, and game plans for the 2009 season.

The Spartans officially open their 2009 season on Aug. 29-30 at the Champions Invitational, hosted this year by Duke. MSU will first play Delaware, then tangle with the Duke/Louisville winner on the second day of action. MSU's schedule has it on the road for much of the first month of the season, with the home opener not until Sept. 25 against Northwestern.
