
No. 7 Spartans Cruise Past Lindenwood, 10-0

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State field hockey team made it a 5-0 start to the season with a 10-0 win over Lindenwood. The No. 7 Spartans were victorious in their first road game of the season by controlling play throughout the contest. The team finished with a 19-1 shots advantage and an 11-1 lead in corners. Becky Manning led all players with three goals on five shots, with all of her tallies coming in the first half. Charlotte van der Laag and Jeamie Deacon also had first period markers to make it 5-0 at the break. Jantine Steinmetz led second-half scorers with a pair of goals for the Spartans. Second-half goals were also added by Amy Schneider, Floor Rijpma and Michelle Ciliberti. Elissa Unger got the start for MSU in goal, before freshman Brittany Miller saw her first collegiate action of her career and made one save. "This game allowed us to use our game plan, and helps us prepare to play against future opponents," said MSU head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. "It was nice to see different players learn how to put the ball in the goal." The Spartans will now travel to
