EAST LANSING - Mich. - Michigan State seniors Becky Manning and Amy Schneider have been selected to participate in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Senior All-Star Game on Nov. 19 in College Park, Md.
Manning has been one of the most productive players on offense for the Spartans this season, ranking third on the team in goals with 10, and fourth in points (23), in just 14 games. Manning has missed the last three games with an injury.
Schneider has been the defensive leader on the field for MSU, and has been productive on the offensive side as well. Schneider received her first Big Ten Player of the Week award of her career on Monday, after an impressive defensive performance against Indiana last Saturday. Schneider has scored three goals on the year, and leads the Spartans in assists with 12, ranking eighth in the NCAA in assists per game (.71).
"The great thing for both players is they weren't heavily recruited coming out of high school. It says a lot about who they are as people and players, making their way through the ranks of Spartan field hockey and earning this recognition," said head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. "It's great for them to be selected, and represent their team and the school in the all-star game."
