Week In Review...
The Spartans suffered a 3-1 loss to a tough Penn State team last Saturday. The Nittany Lions led 1-0 after controlling the majority of the first half, but early in the second period senior Ashley Smeltzer knotted the game 1-1. Penn State put two more in the net to close out the game. MSU goalkeeper Stephanie Yuhasz contributed five saves on the day.
Tally One For Smeltzer
Senior forward, Ashley Smeltzer posted her first goal of the season, and the second of her career against the Nittany Lion's. The goal ended a three-game shut out streak for Penn State.
Blocking Shots
Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Yuhasz once again proved she has more than earned the starting role for Michigan State. She blocked five shots in Saturdays outing to keep the Spartans in the game against an offensively tough Penn State team. She was aided by fellow senior Becky Bolen, who recorded her first defensive save of the season
