Cigna In Third, Leads Spartans At Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Sophomore Brandon Cigna (Novi, Mich.) is in a tie for third after carding a 1-under-par 71 in the first round of The Landfall Tradition on Friday, Oct. 28. Cigna tallied five birdies in his first sub-par round of the year, and sits four shots behind Minnesota's Niall Turner for the individual lead.
As a team, Michigan State began their title defense with a first-round 300, placing them in a tie for eighth with 36 holes left to play. Tulsa leads the 12-team field after shooting a 1-over-par round of 289. Texas A&M sits in second at 294, while Coastal Carolina is third at 295.
Freshmen Grant Tungate (East Lansing, Mich.) and Randy Hutchison (Traverse City, Mich.) recorded opening rounds of 76, good for a tie for 35th. Sophomore Ryan Brehm (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) sits in a tie for 40th after a 5-over-par 77, while junior Matt Harmon (Grand Rapids, Mich.) shot an 82. Of Harmon's 77 rounds as a Spartan, Friday's 82 was only his third score in the 80s.
