Head Coach Michele Madison
On overcoming penalty corner problems:
"It took some rebound plays and some second shots. We knew that was what it would take, in addition to some defensive plays to redirect the ball. We knew that the Louisville goalkeeper was very good. We needed to be able to get some junk in there for her to react to, finally we were able to do that."
On the Spartans' momentum:
"Its just a little frustrating because we were getting the scoring opportunities but we weren't able to put it in the back of the net. But to Louisville's credit, they kept playing and playing through it, even though they were frustrated."
On the game tomorrow against the Wolverines:
"We just want to win. It's a big game. It's always a big game against them and more importantly it's a game to get us to the Final Four. If we can just focus on that and what we want to do, then it's more important than just 'Michigan', it's for us.
On the fan turnout:
"It was fabulous. The community really rallied around us and for the first tournament we've hosted in East Lansing it was a great turnout. So, thank you to the fans.
Senior co-captain Alexandra Kyser
On overcoming penalty corner problems:
"I think that we had the momentum even if we hadn't scored yet. Once you get one goal, you usually kind of rally off that and it keeps going. So I think that because we couldn't get our scoring going early, we just kept shooting."
On the expectations of playing at home:
"I think that when you have home-field advantage you are always expected to win by the fans. It was almost like an away game, because we are staying in downtown Lansing and coming to the field, so it puts a different twist on things."
On fan turnout: When the game started, it was kind of slim, we thought, 'I thought more people were going to come.' But then all those people came in and it was great to see them."
On playing Michigan tomorrow:
"I think that it means more for us to play Michigan. We wanted to play Michigan again in the Big Ten Tournament and we didn't. They are the only team to beat us on this field and we want revenge."
