IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Randi Peterson scored Iowa's final nine points as the No. 25 Hawkeyes rallied to beat Michigan State 50-47 Thursday night.
Peterson finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (16-9, 11-4 Big 10). Iowa finished its conference home season 8-0 and was 13-2 overall at home.
Cara Consuegra added 10 points for Iowa. Julie Pagel led Michigan State (9-17, 3-12) with 11 points.
Michigan State led 26-20 at halftime, the first time Iowa had trailed at home at halftime in a Big 10 game this season.
The Hawkeyes, who trailed much of the contest, drew within 44-43 on Peterson's driving basket with 3:51 left. Peterson again drew Iowa within 1 with two free throws with 2:47 left. Her turnaround in the lane gave Iowa a 47-46 lead with 1:40 left and her driving layup built the lead to 49-46 with 56 seconds remaining.
Pagel and Peterson each went 1-for-2 from the free throw line for the final score.
Michigan State had the final possession with 30 seconds left following a timeout. Vnemina Reese and Maria Recker each missed 3-pointers, but the Spartans rebounded both misses.
MSU called time out with just over 6 seconds left. Donita Johnson then missed another 3-pointer from the wing and the game ended with the two teams scrambling for the loose ball.
