Spartan Women’s Basketball Opens Practice Tuesday

EAST LANSING, Mich. - MSU head coach Robyn Fralick and the Michigan State women's basketball team officially opened practice for the 2026-27 season on Tuesday afternoon at the Breslin Center.
"I love the beginnings of stories. I love the energy that surrounds opening day," Fralick said. "That is still an important thing in our program. It's still exists, and I am excited for that. I am excited for this particular group to keep growing and getting better."
The Spartans ended last season with a 23-9 record, reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Fralick's third season. Michigan State return second-team All-Big Ten guard Kennedy Blair, who as a redshirt-sophomore averaged 14.5 ppg. The Spartans also return graduate guard Theryn Hallock, who missed much of last season due to injury.
"It is great to have Theryn back and to have her healthy," Fralick said. "She is a true Spartan through and through. She adds so many dimensions to our game in so many ways, experience and playing at Michigan State. I think that she learned a lot being out a year."
Fralick enters her fourth season with Michigan State, welcoming nine newcomers this season, including five transfers and four freshmen. Among the Spartan transfers are senior forward Carter McCray (West Virginia) and Tabitha Betson (Colorado).
Michigan State will begin exhibition action on Wednesday, Oct. 28 against Michigan Tech. Tip off time has yet to be determined. This is the second year that the Spartans will have the Huskies in an exhibition.
Sophomore transfer Anna Wypych will face her sister Alyssa, who is a senior at Michigan Tech.
