Four Spartans Named All-Big Ten In Field Hockey

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Four Spartans were named to the All-Big Ten field hockey team this past weekend at the Big Ten Tournament, including Bridget Cooper (Sr., Winnetka, Ill.), who earned Offensive Player of the Year honors. Sophie Rosmalen was also named to the first team, while Maureen Halstead (Sr., North Dartmouth, Mass.) and Judith van Haeringen (Fr., The Hauge, Netherlands) took home second-team accolades.
Cooper, who was named Big Ten Player of the Week twice earlier this season, led all scorers in the Big Ten regular season with 31 points and 15 goals. Her 15 goals were eighth-best in a MSU season. Cooper's 42 career goals and 94 points each stand fourth-best in MSU history. This was the first time a Spartan has ever earned Offensive Player of the Year honors. Cooper was named to the second-team in 2000.
Rosmalen had seven points in the regular season (2-G, 3-A) and was the catalyst behind the Big Ten's leading offense to earn first-team honors for the first time in her career. Halstead was third on the team with 24 points (11-G, 2-A) and van Haeringen was fourth with 19 points (6-G, 7-A), who both took home All-Big Ten honors for the first time.
