Men's Soccer Falls to Valparaiso, 2-1

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team fell to Valparaiso on Friday, September 29 by a score of 2-1. MSU falls to 4-4 on the season while Valparaiso improves to 2-4.
Michigan State created chances early in the first half, coming close to scoring on a two occasions. The Spartan's Craig Hearn (Fr., Farmington Hills) hit the crossbar just over ten minutes into the game followed by another header just 30 seconds later that hit the post. Valpo's Billy Wanecke scored the only goal of the first half when made it 1-0 at the 28:56 mark.
In the second half, the Crusaiders added to their lead when Mike Blejski put a header past Spartan keeper T.J. Lieckfelt (Sr., Sterling Heights) at the 55:37 mark to make the score 2-0. The Spartans then battled back to within one when John Minagawa-Webster (Fr., Monroe) scored his team-leading third goal to make the score 2-1 with just over fifteen minutes to play.
Michigan State will return to action this Sunday, October 1 at 1 p.m. when they host Northwestern at Old College Field.
