Men's Tennis Loses Match To Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's team was defeated by archrival Michigan on Wednesday evening, by a score of 5-2 at the Varsity Tennis Center. It was the Wolverines ninth consecutive victory over MSU and moved Michigan's all-time advantage series record to 82-17. Michigan State fell to 5-15/0-4 for the season.
Michigan claimed a 1-0 advantage by winning all three doubles contests to start the match. The Wolverines kept their momentum going in singles, posting four wins to earn the 5-2 margin of victory. MSU gained its victories at the No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions. Robert Topalo (Prague, Czech Rep.) defeated John Long in three sets and Francisco Trinidad (Mexico City, Mexico) defeated Danny McCain in three sets. Freshman Goran Topalo (Prague, Czech Rep.) took his match to three sets before losing to Ben Cox.
After competing in eleven straight dual matches on the road, the Spartans return to East Lansing this weekend to host Purdue and Indiana. MSU looks to snap its eleven match losing streak on Saturday against the Boilermakers at 1:00 p.m. Michigan State will compete against the Hoosiers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both matches are scheduled to be held on the MSU Outdoor Courts located on Wilson and Chestnut Road behind the Duffy Daugherty Football Building.
