Men's Tennis Drops Second Big Ten Match Of Weekend

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team lost a match to Illinois, 5-2, on Sunday, April 2, in Champaign, Ill. The loss drops the Spartans' record to 5-14/0-3. The Spartans, who continue to search for their first Big Ten victory of the season, were led by senior Francisco Trinidad (Mexico City, Mexico) at the No. 4 position. Trinidad defeated Illinois' Jamal Parker, 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 6 position, MSU freshman Todd Townsend (East Lansing, Mich.) picked up a victory over Shawn Brooke of Illinois, 6-4, 6-2. Illinois took the doubles point by sweeping through all three matches. The Spartans return to competition on Wednesday, April 5, when they travel to Ann Arbor for a match against rival Michigan at 6:00 p.m.
