Field Hockey Player Named All-America

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore Marleen Tuip (Eindhoven, Netherlands) has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America third team. She joins 10 other Big Ten players on the NFHCA All-America teams.
Tuip was a first team All-Big Ten selection in 1999 and was second among Spartans in overall scoring with 27 points. She scored nine goals and tallied nine assists, and was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for her seven-point performance (3G-1A) on Oct. 8 against Northwestern. Tuip led all MSU scorers in conference play with nine points, including four goals and one assist.
Tuip was a second-team All-Big Ten honoree in 1998, when she led Michigan State in scoring as a freshman with nine goals and 14 assists for a total of 32 points.
