Tuip Named Big Ten Player Of The Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore Marleen Tuip (Eindhoven, Netherlands) has been named the Big Ten Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in a pair of conference games last weekend.
Against Northwestern, Tuip tallied the second hat trick of her career and chipped in an assist for a total of seven points, leading Michigan State to it?s first Big Ten win of the season. She also managed two shots in the opening minutes against Iowa before leaving with an injury.
The Netherlands native leads MSU in shots on goal (56), assists (9) and total points (25), and is second on the team with eight goals. Her 25 points tie her for fifth in the Big Ten in overall scoring, while her seven points in league play make her the number four scorer in conference games, two points behind a trio of players tied for the lead.
The Spartans, ranked No. 15 in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll, head to Michigan on Oct. 17 to face the No. 7 Wolverines at 1 p.m. MSU then travels to No. 5 Iowa on Oct. 22 and Northwestern on Oct. 24.
