Big Ten Freshman of the Week (Sept. 23, Oct. 28, 2019)
SOPHOMORE (Spring 2021):Â Â In a season altered by COVID-19, appeared in 10 of 15 matches and 29 sets overall ... Averaged 2.1 kills and 0.6 digs, and hit .157 ... Â Posted a pair of double-digit kill performances at Maryland (2/12-13), hitting .267 and averaging 2.88 kills per set against the Terps. Â She also had a career-best five-ace performance in the series finale ... Finished the Michigan match (2/17) with season bests in kills (17) hitting percentage (.310) and digs (3) ... At Iowa, had a combined nine kills, six digs, and five blocks over the two matches (3/26-27) ... In the Rutgers series (4/2-3), averaged 2.00 kills and hit .389 over the two matches and tied her career best with three blocks in the first matchup.Â
FRESHMAN (2019):  Played in 23 matches and 70 sets (16 of 20 B1G matches), playing a larger role as the Conference season wore on ... Averaged 2.43 kills (second on the team) and hit .201, adding 0.59 digs and 0.37 blocks per set ... Posted double-digit kill totals in each of the last four matches of the season, and was MSU’s leader in five of the last seven ... Made her career debut vs. College of Charleston, picking up a pair of kills in her first MSU action (8/31) ... Contributed 2.20 kills per set and hit .333 in the Spartan Invitational (9/6-7) ... Had a big weekend at Western Michigan (9/20-21), earning All-Tournament Team honors after twice establishing new season bests in kills and averaging 3.64 kills, hitting .333, and adding 0.55 digs and 0.27 blocks per set ... Came off the bench at Maryland to post three of her four kills in the fifth set, finishing with four and a dig (10/5) ... Had three kills and a dig in a start at Nebraska (10/11) ... CLUB: Played for Gaby Jobst of the Halton Region Volleyball Club … Four-time Ontario Volleyball Association Indoor Provincial Champion … Finished fourth at the 2017 Canada Games and fifth at 2017 Volleyball Canada … 16U and 18U Team Ontario member … National Team Challenger Cup silver medalist in 2016 … Ontario Volleyball Association 16U Indoor Provincial silver medalist in 2016 … Volleyball Canada 15U and 16U Indoor East National Champion and All-Star in 2015. PERSONAL: Daughter of John and Tshilongo Kabengele… Has two siblings, Nseya and Mfiondu… Mfiondu played basketball at Florida State and was drafted No. 27 overall by the LA Clippers in the summer of 2019 … Uncle, Dikembe Mutombo, played in the NBA for 18 seasons after a collegiate career at Georgetown … Majoring in Journalism.Â
